Petrichor is a word used to describe the smell of the earth after the rain.
It was fall when I painted this piece. Walks with my dog each morning were greeted with foggy, warm colors, and the smell of the earth after rain and heavy dew. I love seeing the colors of the fall foliage through the mist and taking a deep breath of the wet soil.
I drink matcha green tea every morning and the color is so striking. I decided to experiment by using some matcha powder in this piece which started as a bright green and over time oxidized to become a more neutral, earthy brown.
